Uruguayan painters: Figari, Barradas, Torres García
1/11/2011
The work of Uruguayans Figari, Barradas and Torres García is fundamental in the Latin American artistic renewal of the first decades of the 20th century. These three artists do not constitute a group, and a great part of their work (almost the totality, in the case of Barradas) is carried out outside their country. While Figari bets on an "avant-garde cryollism", Barradas moves between futurism and a very special figuration. On his behalf, with his “constructive universalism”, Torres Garcia bets on a classic balance between figuration and abstraction.
