The building of Argentina: politics, culture and society in the country of the opposites. 1/4/2009 al 20/5/2009
The course presents several discussions about the conformation of the modern Argentinian identity. It is intended to introduce attendees to the understanding of this problem, through the study of political, cultural and social elements. The emphasis will be set on the changes produced in the relationship of the various social actors - elites, popular sectors and other social movements - from the beginning of the 19th century to the origins of the 20th century.
Teacher / Speaker: Martín Stawski. Graduate and professor of History at Tres de Febrero University. He is a member of the research area of the Institute of Economic and Social Development. PhD at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. He is a CONICET doctoral fellow and professor of Social History and Economics at the University of Buenos Aires-FCE. He is part of the study group on the History of the State and the state elites based in IDES.
